Purple Swamphen @ Kinta Nature Park, Batu Gajah, Perak, Malaysia

Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyriois a colorful, attractive and active birds can be found in Batu Gajah. It can be found in the vegetation around the ponds located nearby the park. 

Kinta Nature Park or Taman Alam Kinta in local Malay language is located in Batu Gajah, state of Perak, Malaysia. It has the largest man-made pond in the state and the largest heronry in Malaysia, where thousand of heron-like birds can be found here in the park. The park is open to public everyday from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. with free admission. It can be reached in approximately 2.5 hours from Kuala Lumpur by car. 

The park, especially the pond attracts many activities to the local and tourist alike, including, fishing, bird watching, family get away and jogging.

Kinta Nature Park has a large bird population and varieties. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of herons, egrets, hornbills, bee-eaters, kingfishers, shrikes, weavers, snipes, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few.
