Large Woodshrike @ Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia

Large Woodshrike (Tephrodornis virgatus) is yet another very colorful, cute and attractive bird among many different types of birds can be found in Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia. Large Woodshrike is a resident bird to the hill. 

Due to its relatively high altitude and forest reserves, Bukit Antarabangsa is home to many exotic residence and migratory birds. They can be found on the trees at the edges of the forest. 

The main target birds in Bukit Antarabangsa include different types Malkohas, Ioras, Doves, Orioles, Woodpeckers, Barbets, Flycatchers, Bee-eaters, Drongos and Bulbuls just to name a few.

Large Woodshrike @ Taman TAR Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia

Large Woodshrike (Tephrodornis virgatus) is a very fast, attractive and active resident bird can be found in Taman Tun Abdul Razak aka. Taman TAR Ampang. It can be found in the vegetation along the road at the hill.

Taman Tun Abdul Razak (TAR) is a hill located in town of Ampang, Selangor. The hill can be reached in less than half hour drive from Kuala Lumpur City Center. 

The hill is an important place for family and children activities, walking, jogging and cycling. At the same time, it attracts wildlife and it has become a bird sanctuary for both endemic and migratory birds. 

Taman TAR has a large bird population and varieties with a recorded more than 30 species of birds. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of coucals, woodpeckers, falconet, bee-eaters, kingfishers, shrikes, weavers, flycatchers, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few.

Large Woodshrike @ Berjaya Hill, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, Malaysia

Large Woodshrike (Tephrodornis virgatus) is a fast, very active and attractive bird among hundred species of birds can be found in Berjaya Hill, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, Malaysia. It can be found in the forest at the Hill.

Berjaya Hill, Bukit Tinggi is certainly another wonderful birding destinations as it is a residence to many exotic birds. Although the area is not as large as Fraser's Hill, but the bird population and density certainly entice many birders to be there. The main target birds in Berjaya Hill include Partridge, Mountain Peacock, Hornbill, Orange-breasted Trogon, Orange-headed Thrush, Silver-breasted Broadbill just to name a few. Berjaya Hill can be reached by car in approximately one hour from Kuala Lumpur.
 
To enter Berjaya Hill, an entrance fee of RM16 or approximately USD4 per person will be collected at the foothill. The Hill is open for guests from 9.30 a.m. onward. Since Berjaya Hill is also a popular destinations for family get away especially during weekend, be there early and wait for the desire lighting to come and search for the exotic birds.

Large Woodshrike @ Awana Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia

Large Woodshrike (Tephrodornis virgatus) is yet another attractive, very active and adorable bird among many birds can be found and residence of Awana Genting Highlands Golf and Country Resort, Pahang, Malaysia. It can be found in a forest along the road at the back of Awana Genting Highlands.

The forest behind Awana Genting Highlands is yet another popular highland birding destination in Pahang, Malaysia. It is located some 51 km for the capital city, Kuala Lumpur and it can be reached in approximately forty minutes by car. 

Other neighboring area to Awana Genting Highlands for the birding destination include the old pump house which is around 500 m from the hotel.    

Awana Genting Highlands is a residence to many exotic birds, including different type of Flycatchers, Bee-eaters, Leafbirds, Bulbuls, Doves, Trogons, Minivets and Magpies just to name a few and many migratory birds.
