Banded Bay Cuckoo @ Taman TAR, Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia

Banded Bay Cuckoo (Cacomantis sonneratii) is a very colorful, attractive and active resident bird can be found in Taman Tun Abdul Razak aka. Taman TAR Ampang. It can be found in the vegetation along the road at the hill.

Taman Tun Abdul Razak (TAR) is a hill located in town of Ampang, Selangor. The hill can be reached in less than half hour drive from Kuala Lumpur City Center. 

The hill is an important place for family and children activities, walking, jogging and cycling. At the same time, it attracts wildlife and it has become a bird sanctuary for both endemic and migratory birds. 

Taman TAR has a large bird population and varieties with a recorded more than 30 species of birds. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of coucals, woodpeckers, falconet, bee-eaters, kingfishers, shrikes, weavers, flycatchers, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few.

Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot [Male] @ National Botanical Garden Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia

Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot (Loriculus galgulus) is a very colorful, attractive and cute resident bird can be found in National Botanical Garden Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. The male bird is featured by blue-crown and red spot on the neck. The same are absent in the female counterpart. It can be found in the vegetation along small paths around the park.

National Botanical Garden Shah Alam or Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam in Malay is one a few parks located in the center of Shah Alam city. It is a public park that serves a green lung for city folks. It is located at Taman Pertanian Malaysia, just less than an hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur City Center. 

Covering an area of 817 hectares, the park is an important place for family get way, children activities, gathering, jogging and even wedding. At the same time, it attracts wildlife and it has become a bird sanctuary. A small entrance fee of RM3 per person is collected at the entrance to the park. The Park opens from Tuesday to Sunday from 7.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. It closes on Monday. 

National Botanical Garden Shah Alam has a large bird population and varieties with a recorded more than 60 species of birds. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of pittas, eagles, doves, hornbills, bee-eaters, kingfishers, shrikes, weavers, flycatchers, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few. It has become a destination for migratory birds too.

White-bellied Woodpecker in Action @ Sungai Congkak, Selangor, Malaysia

White-bellied Woodpecker (Dryocopus javensis) is a very colorful, super fast moving and active bird among hundred species of birds can be found in Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest, Selangor, Malaysia. The bird can be found at the forest edges in the recreational forest.  

Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest is yet another wonderful birding destinations in Selangor, Malaysia as it is a residence to many exotic birds. The recreational forest covers a large area of tropical rain forest, waterfalls, trekking and streams. Pale Blue Flycatcher [Female] @ Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia

Pale Blue Flycatcher (Cyornis unicolor) [Female] is colorful, attractive and very active resident bird can be found in Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. They can be found on the forest edges and mature trees along the road of Bukit Larut.

Bukit Larut in Malay or Maxwell Hill is a famous resort hill in Taiping. It can be reached just 10 minutes drive from Taiping town. It is located at Jalan Pekeliling, Taiping, Malaysia. It can be reached in approximately two and half hours drive from Kuala Lumpur City Center. Other modes of transportation are also available, including train and buses. Alternatively, it can be reached in just one hour from Penang international airport. 

Although Taiping is relatively small town, to cater for both local and foreign tourists visiting Lake Gardens and Maxwell Hill, there are abundant hotels, resorts, villas and guesthouses of different standards and prices. Not forgetting restaurants, cafe, convenience shops of all kinds and standards.

Common Kingfisher @ Taman Melawati Hill, Selangor, Malaysia

Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is one of the colorful, attractive and fast action resident bird can be found in Taman Melawati Hill. It can be found in the vegetation along the small stream at the foothill.

Taman Melawati Hill is hill forest located at Taman Melawati, in the state of Selangor. The hill is part of Tabur Hill East or Bukit Tabur, a popular hiking place to the local during weekend, bird watching and a wildlife and nature heaven. The view from the hill is breathtaking.
