Purple-naped Spiderhunter [Male] @ Gunung Tampin Forest Reserve, Negeri Sembilang, Malaysia

Purple-naped Spiderhunter (Kurochkinegramma hypogrammicum) [Male] is a colorful, fast and attractive bird among hundred species of birds can be found in Gunung Tampin forest reserve, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The bird can be found at the forest edges along the road to the peak in the forest reserve.  

Gunung Tampin or Mount Tampin forest reserve is a wonderful birding destination in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia as it is a residence to many exotic birds. The forest reserve covers a large area of tropical rain forest, a waterfall, trekking, camp areas, car park and streams. At the peak of the mountain is the communication tower. It can be reached in approximately two hours from Kuala Lumpur by car. Gunung Tampin forest reserve has a large bird population and varieties. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds in Gunung Tampin forest reserve include different types of kingfishers, babblers, sunbirds, hornbills, woodpeckers,  broadbills, shrikes, malkoha just to name a few.

Maroon Woodpecker @ Bukit Rengit, Lanchang, Pahang, Malaysia

Maroon Woodpecker (Blythipicus rubiginosus) is a very colorful, attractive and very active bird among many hundreds of birds can be found at Bukit Rengit, Lanchang. It can be found in the forest, along the road leading to the Deerland Park.

Bukit Rengit, Lanchang is yet another popular birding place in Pahang, Malaysia. Lanchang is a small town located some 120 km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. It can be reached in approximately one and half hour by car. The birding place located at Bukit Rengit not far from Deerland Park.  Other attraction to Lanchang is the elephant sanctuary. 

It is certainly another wonderful birding destinations as it is a residence to many exotic birds. The main target birds in Bukit Rengit include Malkoha, Hooded Pitta and Malayan Pitta, different types of Babblers, different types of Trogons and different types of Bulbul just to name a few.

Purple Swamphen @ Kinta Nature Park, Batu Gajah, Perak, Malaysia

Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyriois a colorful, attractive and active birds can be found in Batu Gajah. It can be found in the vegetation around the ponds located nearby the park. 

Kinta Nature Park or Taman Alam Kinta in local Malay language is located in Batu Gajah, state of Perak, Malaysia. It has the largest man-made pond in the state and the largest heronry in Malaysia, where thousand of heron-like birds can be found here in the park. The park is open to public everyday from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. with free admission. It can be reached in approximately 2.5 hours from Kuala Lumpur by car. 

The park, especially the pond attracts many activities to the local and tourist alike, including, fishing, bird watching, family get away and jogging.

Kinta Nature Park has a large bird population and varieties. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of herons, egrets, hornbills, bee-eaters, kingfishers, shrikes, weavers, snipes, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few.
