Oriental Garden Lizard @ Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Borneo, East Malaysia

Oriental Gerden Lizard is a colorful, very active and attractive resident reptile can be found in Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, East Malaysia. Dusky Munia is endemic to Borneo. 

The photos were taken using Nikon D500 paired with Nikkor 500 PF lens, ISO 320, F 6.3, EV -1.7. 

Penampang is a district located in the West Cost of Kota Kinabalu, just few km away from the capital city. Penampang has a large area of paddy field which attracts a lot of birds both residents and migratory birds.

Kota Kinabalu can be considered as a transit place for many bird watchers and birders to Sabah, Borneo, East Malaysia as it is a gateway to other more exciting bird watching and bird photography destinations in the island, such as Mount Alab, Rainforest Discovery Center (RDC) and Mount Trusmadi. 

Due to its geography, Kota Kinabalu has a large bird population and varieties with a recorded more than 30 species of birds. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of kites, eagles, parrots, bee-eaters, swallows, kingfishers, shrikes, weavers, flycatchers, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few. It has become a destination for migratory birds too. Other excellent nearby birding locations are Kampung Sembulan and Tanjung Aru.

Giant Monitor Lizard @ Sungai Balang, Muar, Malaysia

Giant Monitor Lizard is another wildlife creature can be found in Sungai Balang, Muar, Malaysia. It can be found around the paddy field area and surrounding plantation.

Sungai Balang is another wonderful birding destinations in Johor, Malaysia as it is a residence to many exotic birds and has become migratory birds' destination too. The place has large area of paddy field, mangrove forest, seashore, and streams. Muar is a popular weekend destination to the local for family get away, fishing, kite flying and cycling. Adequate accommodations, restaurants, local food stalls and recreational activities are provided in the area and nearby town, Muar.

Other nearby birding destination to Sungai Balang is Parit Jawa where fisherman village and jetty are located. The area includes nearby mangrove forest and beaches.  

Sungai Balang can be reached in approximately two and half hour from Kuala Lumpur city center by car. The place has a large bird population and varieties. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds in Sungai Balang includes different types of kingfisher, woodpeckers, land birds,  shore birds. stilts, shrikes, kites, pigeons, egrets and herons just to name a few.

Oriental Garden Lizard @ Town Park Puchong, Selangor Malaysia

Oriental Garden Lizard aka. Changeable Lizard  is another colorful, very active and attractive resident creatures can be found in Town Park Puchong. It can be found in the vegetation along the small stream and ponds around the park.

Town Park Puchong is a park located at Bandar Putri Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia. It is a public park that serves as a green lung for city folks. The park can be reached in just half an hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur City Center. 

The park is an important place for family get way, children activities and jogging. At the same time, it attracts wildlife and it has become an urban biodiversity and habitat to a wide range of flora and fauna. Also, a bird sanctuary too. 

Town Park Puchong has a large bird population and varieties with a recorded more than 30 species of birds. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of Cuckoos, Kites, Eagles, Kingfishers, Shrikes, Weavers, Flycatchers, Herons, Egrets, Bulbuls, Pigeons just to name a few. Iguana @ Taman Melawati Hill, Selangor, Malaysia

Iguana is another very attractive creature can be found in Taman Melawati Hill. The creature camouflages very well with the surrounding environment and creates no sound at all, hence it is very difficult to notice his present. It can be found in the vegetation along the small stream at the foothill.

Taman Melawati Hill is hill forest located at Taman Melawati, in the state of Selangor. The hill is part of Tabur Hill East or Bukit Tabur, a popular hiking place to the local during weekend and a wildlife and nature heaven. The view from the hill is breathtaking. It can be reached just less than an hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur City Center. 

Taman Melawati Hill is well known place to watch raptors migration process which happens during the month of March and April every year. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of kites, eagles, buzzards, hawks, kingfishers, weavers, flycatchers, cuckoos, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few. It has become a destination for migratory birds too.
