Gymnure [Jungle Rat] and Squirrel @ Ulu Kali, Bukit Cincin, Pahang, Malaysia

Gymnure or Jungle Rat and Squirrel are another very active and attractive mammals among many mammals can be found at Bukit Cincin, Pahang, Malaysia. Gymnure and Squirrel are residence mammals to the hill. It can be found in the forest edges along the road of Bukit Cincin.

Bukit Cincin also known as Ulu Kali to many locals is another popular highland birding destination in Pahang, Malaysia. It is located some 56 km for the capital city, Kuala Lumpur and it can be reached in approximately one hour by car. Due to its high altitude, birding may be hinder by the present of mist, especially in the early morning. Hence, be patient and wait for the mist to go away. Be prepared for very chilled weather too. 

Bukit Cincin is a residence to many exotic birds, including different type of Flycatchers, Bulbuls, Nilvatas, Flowerpeckers and Magpies just to name a few and many migratory birds during the month of November to April every year.

Zero Point Sonmarg @ Ladakh, Kashmir, India

Zero Point Sonmarg is yet another must-stop location for any one who travel along Srinagar - Leh highway.   

Zero Point Sonmarg is approximately one hour drive from a small town called Sonmarg or Sonamarg on the way to Leh, towards Zojila pass, which is known as the most dangerous and toughest routes in India. Zero Point Sonmarg is a popular ski destination in North India as it has beautiful snow capped mountains. 

It is a popular tourist destination for both local and foreign tourists during spring and summer. Roads and resorts are closed during winter, from September to March due to snow falls as high as 6 feet and the temperature falls to minus 30 centigrade. Hence, there is no road access from Srinagar to Leh during winter.

Fire-breasted Flowerpecker [Female] @ Berjaya Hill, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, Malaysia

Fire-breasted Flowerpecker (Dicaeum ignipectus) [Female] is a very active, cute and attractive bird among hundred species of birds can be found in Berjaya Hill, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, Malaysia. It can be found in the forest at the Hill.

Berjaya Hill, Bukit Tinggi is certainly another wonderful birding destinations as it is a residence to many exotic birds. Although the area is not as large as Fraser's Hill, but the bird population and density certainly entice many birders to be there. The main target birds in Berjaya Hill include Partridge, Mountain Peacock, Orange-breasted Trogon, Orange-headed Thrush, Silver-breasted Broadbill just to name a few. Berjaya Hill can be reached by car in approximately one hour from Kuala Lumpur. 

To enter Berjaya Hill, an entrance fee of RM16 or approximately USD4 per person will be collected at the foothill. The Hill is open for guests from 9.30 a.m. onward. Since Berjaya Hill is also a popular destinations for family get away especially during weekend, be there early and wait for the desire lighting to come and search for the exotic birds.

Moonland Lamayuru @ Ladakh, Kashmir, India

Moonland is situated at a small village called Lamayuru, approximately half distance between Kargil and Leh town, along Srinagar - Leh highway.   

The name "Moonland" is refereed to a magnificent landscape believed to be liked the surface of the moon which was naturally formed.  The Moonland at Lamayuru has become a must-stop place for anyone who travel along Srinagar - Leh pass. To view this picturesque landscape visitors' vehicles stop at the highest point.
