Moonland Lamayuru @ Ladakh, Kashmir, India

Moonland is situated at a small village called Lamayuru, approximately half distance between Kargil and Leh town, along Srinagar - Leh highway.

The name "Moonland" is refereed to a magnificent landscape believed to be liked the surface of the moon which was naturally formed.  The Moonland at Lamayuru has become a must-stop place for anyone who travel along Srinagar - Leh pass. To view this picturesque landscape visitors' vehicles stop at the highest point.

Moonland at Lamayuru is a popular tourist destination for both local and foreign tourists during spring and summer. Roads and resorts are closed during winter, from September to March due to snow falls as high as 6 feet and the temperature falls to minus 30 centigrade. Hence, there is no road access from Srinagar to Leh during winter.

Although Lamayuru is a small town, it has what is needed by the visitors, including simple accommodations, local food and sundry shops.
