Helmeted Hornbill @ Fraser's Hill, Pahang, Malaysia

Helmeted Hornbill (Rhinoplax vigil) is a colorful, very active and attractive bird among few hundred species of birds can be found in Fraser's Hill, Pahang, Malaysia. Helmeted Hornhill is one of the six species of Hornbills can be found in Fraser's Hill. The bird usually can be sighted at the forest edges around the Hill. 

Fraser's Hill is definitely one of the best birding destinations in Malaysia and in Asia as it is a residence to many exotic birds. The hill covers a large area of tropical rain forest, waterfalls, trekking and streams. There are abundant accommodations, food and recreational activities provided at the HillIt can be reached in approximately two hours from Kuala Lumpur by car.

Fraser's Hill has the largest bird population and varieties. It certainly entices many birders from all over the world to be there. The main target birds in Fraser's Hill include different types laughingthrush, hornbills, broadbills, cuckoos, flycathers, woodpackers, barbets, babblers, Niltavas, Minivets and Trogons just to name a few. 

As part of it's promotion and global recognition, Fraser's Hill holds Fraser's Hill International Bird Race annually. The hill is truly a heaven for bird and nature lovers.

    3. Thank you very much Ken. I went there last Sunday. After waiting whole day, finally the bird came around 4.30 p.m. Yes, it perches quite far but, due to the size it does not look that bad. I am happy to get some flight shots.

  2. Icc, yupe, many of them juz said perch far, but the size like Dino, so still can get so quality detail. Does any ppl using call?

    1. hehehe, you are right Ken. Yes, other birder called. I manage to shoot Wreathed Hornbill in flight too while waiting. So did you get a good shot of the Helmeted Hornbill?

    3. Icc, my so far can acceptable. Cant complained much, still is nature thing, where to perch its cant control by us, important is the target LIFER "CLICK". Win win. ;D
