Blue-tailed Bee-eater @ Taman Melawati Hill, Selangor, Malaysia

Blue-tailed Bee-eater (Merops philippinus) is one of the colorful, attractive and fast action residence birds can be found in Taman Melawati Hill. It can be found in the vegetation along the small stream at the foothill.

Taman Melawati Hill is hill forest located at Taman Melawati, in the state of Selangor. The hill is part of Tabur Hill East or Bukit Tabur, a popular hiking place to the local during weekend and a wildlife and nature heaven. The view from the hill is breathtaking. It can be reached just less than an hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur City Center. 

Other neighboring areas to Taman Melawati Hill for the birding destinations include Kemensah Heights and Ukay Perdana.

Taman Melawati Hill is well known place to watch raptors migration process which happens during the month of March and April every year. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of kites, eagles, buzzards, hawks, kingfishers, weavers, flycatchers, cuckoos, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few. It has become a destination for migratory birds too.
