Mount Ijen and Ijen Crater, East Java, Indonesia

Mount Ijen is yet another active volcano just 3 hours drive from Mount Bromo in East Java of Indonesia. However, to conquer Mount Ijen is much more challenging as compared to Mount Bromo, where four-wheel jeeps are available. It takes approximately 2.5 hours hike to reach the crater through a very steep road used by sulfur miners.

One of the most attractive natural phenomenon in Mount Ijen is Blue Fire or Blue Flame produced by the ignited sulfuric gas in the crater. To witness the Blue Flame, visitors must start their journey from 1.00 a.m. so as it can be viewed before sunrise.
