Barred Eagle-Owl (Bubo sumatranus) is a cute, large and attractive bird among hundred species of birds can be found in Seremban Lake Garden aka. Taman Tasik Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The bird can be found at the forest edges along the road of the lake garden.
Seremban Lake Garden is one of few parks located in the center of Seremban city. It is a public park that serves a green lung for city folks. It is located at Jalan Taman Bunga, just an hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur City Center. The park is an important place for family get way, children activities, jogging and even wedding. At the same time, it attracts wildlife and it has become a bird sanctuary.
Seremban Lake Garden has a large bird population and varieties with a recorded more than 40 species of birds. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds include different types of kites, eagles, owls, bee-eaters, kingfishers, shrikes, weavers, flycatchers, bulbuls, pigeons just to name a few. It has become a destination for migratory birds too.
Other nearby birding destinations to Seremban Lake Garden are Kampung Talang, Linggi River, Ulu Bendul and Gunung Tampin Forest Reserve.
I stay near the lake garden and often hear the sound made by them at night but not sure if it is from this species.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and sharing your experince. It is very likely because Owl is nocturnal. Other birds may have slept at night. You may search in the YouTube on the sound and compare it with the one you hear at night.
