Red Camelot @ Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia

Red Camelot is a large, very colorful and attractive bird among many different types of birds trained at Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia. 

The photos were taken using Nikon D500 paired with Nikkor 500 PF lens, ISO 1250, F 5.6, EV -1.0. 

Due to its relatively high altitude, topography and forest reserves, Bukit Antarabangsa is a perfect place to train birds. At the same time, the place is home to many exotic residence and migratory birds. They can be found on the trees at the edges of the forest. 

The main target birds in Bukit Antarabangsa include different types Malkohas, Ioras, Doves, Orioles, Woodpeckers, Barbets, Flycatchers, Bee-eaters, Drongos and Bulbuls just to name a few.

Rufous-backed Dwarf-Kingfisher @ Bukit Rengit, Lanchang, Pahang, Malaysia

Rufous-backed Dwarf-Kingfisher (Ceyx rufidorsa) is a very colorful, attractive and active bird among many hundreds of birds can be found at Bukit Rengit, Lanchang. It can be found in the forest, along the road leading to the Deerland Park.

The photos were taken using Nikon D500 paired with Nikkor 500 PF lens, ISO 3200, F 5.6, EV -0.7.  

Bukit Rengit, Lanchang is yet another popular birding place in Pahang, Malaysia. Lanchang is a small town located some 120 km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. It can be reached in approximately one and half hour by car. The birding place located at Bukit Rengit not far from Deerland Park.  Other attraction to Lanchang is the elephant sanctuary.
 
It is certainly another wonderful birding destinations as it is a residence to many exotic birds. The main target birds in Bukit Rengit include Malkoha, Hooded Pitta and Malayan Pitta, different types of Babblers, different types of Trogons and different types of Bulbul just to name a few.

Purple Heron [Food in Mouth] @ Sungai Putat, Melaka, Malaysia

Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea) is a large, slow and active bird among hundred species of birds can be found in Sungai Putat, Melaka, Malaysia. The bird can be found along the river and trees around residential enclaves and lives coexist with human being. 

Other neighboring areas for birding destinations are Sungai Rambai, Parit Jawa and Sungai Balang. 

Sungai Putat is another wonderful birding destinations in Melaka, Malaysia as it is a residence to many exotic birds and has become migratory birds' destination too. The place has large area of water retention pond, river, paddy field, mangrove forest, seashore, and streams. Melaka is a popular weekend destination to the local for family get away, sightseeing and food. Adequate accommodations, restaurants, local food stalls and recreational activities are provided in the nearby town, Melaka

Sungai Putat can be reached in approximately two and half hour from Kuala Lumpur city center by car. The place has a large bird population and varieties. It certainly entices many birders to be there. The main target birds in Sungai Putat includes different types of kingfisher, woodpeckers, land birds,  shore birds, bitterns, stilts, shrikes, kites, pigeons, egrets and herons just to name a few.

Hooded Pitta [Sub-adult] @ Inobong Substation, Penampang, Sabah, Borneo, East Malaysia

Hooded Pitta (Pitta sordida) is a colorful, active and attractive bird can be found in Inobong Substation, Penampang, Sabah, Borneo, East Malaysia.

The photos were taken using Nikon D500 paired with Nikkor 500 PF lens, ISO 2500, F 5.6, EV -0.7. 

Inobong Substation is part of Crocker Range National Park which is the largest national park in Sabah. The place needs no introduction to the world, especially well-known to the nature lovers, hikers and jungle trekkers. Located in the district of Penampang, South-east of Sabah, island of Borneo, East Malaysia, some 18 km from the capital city, Kota Kinabalu. It can be reached in approximately 30 minutes by car from Kota Kinabalu International Airport through winding mountainous road. Due to it high elevation, weather in the Substation is very unpredictable. 

The Substation has the most diversified treasures, both flora and fauna, including more than 200 species of bird and 100 species of mammal. Although the place is small, to cater for both local and foreign tourists, there are some basic rest-house, chalets and camping ground for rent. 

For bird lovers, Inobong Substation certainly is the place to test your passion and perseverance in getting the best from the rain forest of Borneo. Some target birds include many species of Sunbirds, Trogons, Borneon Whistling Thrush, Babblers, Warblers, Barbets, Flowerpeckers, Flycatchers, Drongos, Owls, Partridges, Whitehead's Broadbill, Bornean Treepie just to name a few.
